Fresubin Drinks Side Effects
Fresubin drinks are generally well-tolerated, but some patients may experience mild side effects:
- The most common side effects are gastrointestinal problems such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, bloating, and diarrhea. In one study, 25% of patients taking Fresubin experienced gastrointestinal adverse events.
- Fresubin is not suitable for patients with acute gastrointestinal bleeding, ileus, shock, or severe organ failure with impaired metabolism and severe forms of malassimilation.
- Fresubin should be used with caution in children under 6 years of age.
- Fresubin is not suitable for patients with galactosaemia.
- Fresubin Jucy Drink is fat-free, but Fresubin 5 kcal Shot contains a high amount of fat (97% of total energy), which may impair insulin sensitivity and cause dyslipidemia in patients with diabetes.
